New Septic System Information & Estimated Costs

The first step to determine what type of system you need is to perform both a probe and percolation test at your site. The percolation test is used to determine the size of the soil absorption field. Next, the Sewage Enforcement Officer for the township is contacted to perform an inspection on the probe. The probe is dug to a depth of eight feet, if possible.
The Sewage Enforcement Officer then examines the soil layers in the probe hole to determine the type of soil located on the property and if any "limiting zone" (i.e. rock, water table, etc.) exists. At this point, the Sewage Enforcement Officer determines at what depth the percolation holes should be dug and their locations.

The application and township permit fees range from $75.00 to $225.00 varying with the township. The excavation of a probe and a set of percolation test holes can range between $300.00 to $600.00. A deposit of the above noted fees is required prior to the tests being performed by the Sewage Enforcement Officer and excavation by our crews.

After the completion of the probe and percolation tests, the results, as interpreted by the Sewage Enforcement Officer, would determine the size and type of system to be installed. There are various types of systems and prices ranging as follows:

Due to the amount of variations in the systems, it is necessary to perform both the probe and perc tests to determine the exact pricing. All of the aforementioned costs are general estimates. After final determination by the Sewage Enforcement Officer, a more detailed estimate can be provided.
